A Baby Blue Friday

I hope you had a great day yesterday – I took a day off from writing, and that is probably going to happen a little more often because I have had a few smart people tell me that I have to preserve some of my arty energy for doing arty stuff with my hands instead of spending over an hour every day on blogging.

It makes sense – but it also makes me a little worried, because what if you then don’t remember to come see me!

So once again … to make sure that you get my updates plop in your email over there on the right – that way you’ll get my blog sent to your inbox whenever I post and you don’t have to worry about not hearing about or seeing my latest endeavours!

Also – another reminder … Press the “like” button on my BMDesign Facebook page and you’ll be able to check out what is happening over there as well.

OK … with all that said it is after all Pinterest Friday and this week I have spent some time rummaging around on there.

I had an interesting chit-chat with my son about Faberge Eggs – oh they are stunning and impressive (The closest I’ve ever come to one is the one we got for my niece for when she was Christened on the same days as my twins – Let me just clear up right away that it was just a copy but still a very very nice copy :) ).

I also spent time looking at Art Dolls from Kate Church (you do get a lot of overlapping when you write those two words … it’s not that I do not LOVE Catherine and William and the whole wedding … but that is not what I’m trying to look for when I want to check out Kate’s work!).

I do tend to spend a lot of time when I find an artist whose work I like. I google and I pinterest because the images you can find are just stunning.

And then I typed in “White” … because I wanted to play with colours … and then I typed in “Lime green” (which is such a happy colour but had very little I liked on that page as I would never decorate with that colour as I find it too strong for walls!).

I ended up with “Light Blue” as my choice for today. Because light blue is such a calming colour for me – it makes me feel good, I makes me calm – it makes me happy.

So let me share a few pictures that I liked

Makes you want to sew … create … make – or at least it makes me want to do it!

I’m always on a look-out for a nice bread bin … this is not at all bad!

This door makes me wonder what is on the other side – I think a stunning garden …

This … well it just made me smile … you?

Every time I see one of these guys on the road I fall a little more in love with them … does that make me old?

But it is this guy – it is this little guy that makes my heart yearn. I want one!

Ever since I went to Denmark last summer and on our first day home, while waiting for the ferry on a beautiful summers day, we wandered about and bumped into this – a FIAT 500c … in baby blue … my heart swell, my love was instant and I just knew that some day – some day I must have one … driving about, sun on my face – happy as a clam … remembering that very first gorgeous day in Denmark with my children on the harbour …

I am absolutely 100% aware that this makes no sense – but it is nevertheless true … I am in love with a car … sad … I know!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Macaroons or a Stegosaurus?

So … I’m not going to lie to you – because that wouldn’t be very nice would it now!

But I really really didn’t know what to write about today – or show as it is Pinterest Friday and that is when I’m supposed to show you something I found on Pinterest …

Only thing is … I haven’t been on Pinterest all week.

Because I’ve been sculpting – every minute of every day where I wasn’t fulfilling my motherly duties – and let me just get that out there … those motherly duties were lacking heart and soul – they were just done – end of – because all I wanted to do was play with the clay!

So I got up this morning thinking “what am I going to show today? I have nothing!”

That’s where coffee comes in great – specifically the first cup of the day … it sure get’s them little brain cells going a little faster.

So I thought – well, all I want to do is play with clay – so let’s look if there is any other stuff out there made by clay that I like?

So I just did a search on “Polymer Clay”.

There are a lot of little figurines … nah … not going to show you those

The first thing I found that I liked and think you should see is this

I like this – not the ring – only the bracelets … the ring reminds me of the times I had to play Stegosaurus with my son!

And this – well it sort of shouts Spring at me … and I could do with a bit of spring and summer now …

I think those two pieces would go lovely in my little jewelry box – I’d wear them happily!

Now for something totally different – for those of you who don’t know me well … I hate gardening … like A LOT.

I hate it – I don’t want it … I’d make the whole backyard into a big deck if I could – and then you think “oh and then she’d have some lovely big planters dotted all over the place … nope … I wouldn’t – because I’d kill whatever you put in those planters – quickly … because I might be a skilled artist but I do not have a single green finger – not one!

The ONLY thing you would see me take an interest in is a herb garden … I did that for two years here … last year, well I just didn’t get around to it – at all … pathetic but true – and then Mr. Hubby came along and even killed the sage (at least I think it was the sage?) that had come back from the year before …

No – we really should not be in charge of gardens – ever!

But this for my herb garden – (feel free to send me a note when you think it is time I plant a herb garden because it is highly likely that I’ll forget again if I’m not prompted!) – this I like … and then maybe Mr. Hubby will read on the stick and think “probably shouldn’t pull that”.

Yep I like those!

And the last thing before I run up the stairs to make my latest attempt at Mr. Character Head … what do you think … there cannot be many calories in these macaroons … finally you could say “I just ate a WHOLE box of macaroons … and I could go for another”

Have a lovely Weekend!

Dreaming …

So you remember that thing about the King of xxx?

Ups and downs and twistings and turnings and it never ever ends.

Mr. Hubby is finally home (- phew that was a long ten days!) but “of course” he brings not one … but two job offers – not from the aforementioned King (still waiting to hear back – I’m assuming the King is busy counting his gold coins, a bit like good old Uncle Scrooge!) … no this time we are talking Europe or North America.

And every time – as I mentioned in the Royal Rollercoaster – we go through the positives and negatives.

And every time we try to look into the future. Trying to figure out if this would this be a good move “up the ladder”.

But because it is Pinterest Friday – well I’m looking at houses – dream homes that I’d (like to) insist on if a move was involved should he chose a new position (and we were to come with him!) … lots of ifs and buts … and everything is still totally up in the air – so don’t you go wishing we’ll be moving closer to Europe or further away, whatever your preference would be!

I have always had a dream that I’d be living in a barn … I would love to live in a barn.

Well looking around I actually found that a Carriage Home is more like it – like this …

look at the color of that house … oooh and the little bridge … Yes, Please and Thank You!

and then the inside … I’d like a bit of this … thank you very much!

or …

I’d be just as happy with some of this

and of course a dream kitchen … look at the windows … please … drooling now …

Now add if you will – a Kitchen Witch or any of my homemade (lovely even if I do say so myself!) quilts and since this game is really fun – well why don’t we envision a little studio – like a mini copy of the house, where I can put all my lovely fabrics and accessories and tools and trimmings.

Well, a girl can dream can’t she?

Have a fabulous Weekend all!

Pinterest Friday Finds

Ha … it’s great to have a plan – right?

So I promised yesterday I’d spend some time on Pinterest finding something I liked and thought you might like too.

And I made a lovely coffee with lots of fluffed milk and sat in my favorite chair and I went to Pinterest – and then nothing …

No matter what I tried searching for – it didn’t work … just that little wheel that tells you it is searching … but nothing.

The only thing that worked was Pinterest’s own favorites so I went through them, thinking I might get lucky finding something to share.

And I did find things that were interesting – like how to get your white t-shirts really white again, and also how to do a perfect peacock make-up “that is so in”(what??? I didn’t even know that there was such a thing as “peacock make-up” … how old am I? … must be that I read craft magazines or food magazines and not “Cosmopolitan” or whatever it’s called!) … there were also weird recipes – like how to make Red Velvet Pancakes … no thank you very much – I prefer mine without coloring …

But this did bring a smile to my face

dog sign

You have to – don’t you? Anyone with a dog knows this – there is some sort of secret language and it would be rude not to communicate if he’s communicating with you!

On a more crafty note though – this also caught my eye

… Because as anyone who’s been to our house knows – there are gallons of chalk paint on our walls. I love that stuff – my sons room has a whole wall where he can go mad !

I had wall paper with hearts when I was a young teen and I wrote in those hearts … behind the door of course!

So my thinking is that once he’s a teenager I might be able to go in there and see all sorts of code on that wall and then have a bit of an idea about what is going on in his life … well, don’t blame me – I think that is MUCH better than searching for a diary and reading through it pretending you would NEVER do such a thing!

Again … I digress …

The thing about this cake sheet – it’s magnetic and it is just fabric … the thing about the chalk paint is that it doesn’t look so nice once you try to erase and clean. But this way – I love the idea that you can change the fabric easily.

Don’t be surprised if you ever get to walk through the doors of our house that you might see one of these babies on the wall somewhere – I really like this idea!

So this week I’ll stop at two things because I really didn’t find anything else that rocked my boat – at least between now and my next “Pinterest Friday” I have a bigger chance of searching and finding something I really like!

Have a lovely weekend!
