Let’s Do This!

It’s been too long – a month or maybe even 6 weeks since I took you along on a ride …

This ride is on the back of a Flying Fairy – I mean how can you refuse?

A for Artistic starts a new class today with Marilyn Radzat – I know … I know … I should maybe stretch my wings a little and try other teachers but I really am drawn to this class because Marilyn promises to teach us a trick about how to make sure your Fairy (or maybe a Kitchen or Halloween witch?) is flying straight – not drooping – looking like he’s going to crash into the floor head first!

I have to say … I’m pretty excited – because who doesn’t love a little Fairy in their life?

And also – this is much closer to where I started out with my Halloween Witches last year – I absolutely love anything that can hang off my branches in my dining room … and these have great potential!

Also – Marilyn is an amazing teacher – and I am jumping up and down inside with crazy happy joy – because I’ll be learning something new from her today … and it is just a quick little class – won’t take long but I’ll be happy to be doing something new and exciting in my studio again!

Do you want to join me – it is Fun (yes, Fun with a capital F!) … if you want to try something new – something really rewarding and happy … this is it – trust me!

You’ll love the classroom, the clay, the dressing of the fairy and as for Marilyn – you’ll be hard pressed to try to find a more supportive and wonderful teacher!

If you don’t think it is for you – hop on my Fairy’s back and I’ll take you along for our ride!

A Gourdy Detour …

So I went to Toronto to celebrate and I had a wonderful time!

Thank you all for your lovely messages here, there and everywhere – It was a lovely day!

While in Toronto I realized that I might be close to this one place (the only place!) that sells gourds in Ontario!

Remember “The Seven Sins”?

The Seven Sins – which in my case is “The Seven Travellers” – they live inside Pandora.

Pandora is a gourd!

I had to order her online at the Northern Dipper as there is no place here in Ottawa that sells gourds – which makes me sad as it is a lot easier to decide on a gourd when you can actually see it!

Anyways – I had to try to describe how big Pandora needed to be and that she had to have lots of little people inside her.

Last week my gourd arrived in the post ….

This mama was B I G!!!

I panicked a bit (read lots!) because not only does the gourd need to live on my board – the seven travellers need to live there too when they are not sleeping inside her tummy – and also … this is the board I was hoping to decorate with buttons from my lovely friends and family from all over the world!

I was sad – because as you can see – there wasn’t much room left for anything once Pandora arrived on there!

But then Marilyn told me how to sort it and then I was somewhat happy again.

Then while not being able to sleep at the hotel (am I the only one who just cannot sleep in hotels – crikey I lie awake what feels like all night long and I’m not coming home rested – instead I come home sleep deprived!) I had the idea that maybe – just maybe we weren’t so far away from the place where I had ordered the gourd.

I called – we weren’t that far and I arranged to come see them yesterday on our way home from Toronto!

Let me just say – the car was already packed to the rim with all our stuff – and all the fantastic fabric I was given by a super generous family member on Friday – and also Clara (who had to come along for the ride to be shown off to all the lovely family in Toronto !) … so there really wasn’t a ton of space in the back of the car.

Well – how was I supposed to walk into this Gourd Farm and only leave with one gourd (something a little smaller than what I had received in the post last week!)?

Whoopsie Daisies …

But they were so pretty …

Big Gourds …

Small Gourds ….

Funny Gourds …

Luckily Mr. Hubby didn’t mind that he couldn’t see out the rear window while driving all the way home  - gourds and all.

She’s Ready for the Ball!

Remember when I told you that my new favorite in the whole world – best ever – cross my heart and all of that – artist Marilyn Radzat (Have you checked out her stuff yet?!) told me that she thought I’d be ready for that female face class?

Well, I was doing my Mr. Character Face class on Tuesday … and we learned how to do hands

Little tiny funny hands …

Not quite “See no Evil, Hear no Evil, Speak no Evil” but almost! (My kids are not evils!)

aah the fun we have!

Anyways – this is what I really wanted to show you

My first time ever sculpting a pretty girl – and painting a pretty face

and here she is –  following the direction from Marilyn course …

all done up and ready for the ball!

she’s certainly colorful – imagine some hair, a headpiece or something fancy on her bald head – I think she is very pretty!
