A Valentine Pinterest

It’s that time again …

It is Pinterest Friday – or if you are a hopeless romantic it is Valentines (real soon!).

So I thought todays post should be about Valentines

Except I really do not care for this Holiday – at all!

Mr. Hubby knows this – and won’t be getting me neither roses nor chocolate – ’cause he kind of knows I find it tacky. I’d much rather have chocolates any other day of the year – and tulips over roses … every time!

Anyhow – I decided I should check out IF it was possible to find anything on Pinterest under “Valentine” that I actually could say that I liked.

I found this

… and that was really it – I thought this would be cute for a class … fortunately I don’t think either of mine want to do Valentines this year – but if they do, maybe I’ll try to push this one on them!

From then on – I mean I did find things I liked on the Valentines search but every time it was more that it was Red & White that made me like it.

Being Danish, I love me some Red & White … our flag is like the most beautiful flag in the world!

Living in Canada … the Canadian flag is not far behind – and I love that I, on any given day will see a red/white flag waving in the wind – if I sort of squint and pretend real hard I can for a split second think I’m actually in Denmark …

Oh no – there I go again digressing … happens all the time these days …

So let’s get to it – let me show you some lovely Red & White things I found today while looking around!

See I wouldn’t need to only have this out for Valentines – I could easily look at this every day … year round – I have a serious love affair with mobiles!

I could totally see me doing something with this and giving it to my little peeps. Again – I would want them to know I love them year round and not just on Valentines … I’m all about telling them all the time!

… and just because I used to make a LOT of cakes … I thought I’d share this one with you because I think it is simple but very pretty!

Oh, and since we’re talking about cakes and all that – here are the cake pops I made for my 40th a little while back

and from the candy buffet …

…. mmmmm ….

I’m ALL about red boots – I love love love red shoes or boots … just absolutely love them.

Thing about red shoes/boots though – you HAVE to be in a mood to chat with people because it never fails. I put my red boots on and every one I bump into will comment on them – you cannot be in a bad mood with red footwear – I dare you to try it!

But I could certainly do with a new pair – and these would be just honky dory for this cold Canadian winter

but even better than me wearing red shoes or boots

there is N O T H I N G in this world that makes me smile more than a baby or a toddler with red shoes … absolutely nothing … it screams LOVE at me

with these I wish you a Happy Weekend – and if you’re all about the Valentines too – have a great Tuesday next week!

Purging …

or is that the word?

You smart people out there might have to tell me if I’ve got the right word – Hubby suggested “Cosmic Re-alignment” … but I think that is slightly too heavy!

Let’s get to it though – let me tell you what I mean – and then you can tell me if I chose the right word!

It is a well-known fact that when big events happen in my life – I need to paint.

And I do not mean dainty little landscape paint – I mean, I have to – MUST – paint walls!

Let me explain – when I went to Denmark this summer, it was the first time I went home in 7 years, and it was cathartic for me. Bad things happened in Denmark the last time I was there and I was not at all hurrying back – well 7 years is hardly hurrying is it?

So, when I went it was with a heart racing a little faster than normal, sweat production a little higher than normal and wine intake definitely a little higher than normal – but I’m happy to say – it was the best time of my life.

But that is not what I want to talk about – what I want to talk about is that when I got home from that holiday – with a lot of jet lag, I went to the Paint Store the following morning (yep – you might want to read that again – the F O L  L O W I N G morning!) and it was not something I had thought about before Denmark, during Denmark or on the plane home from Denmark … no, I simply woke the following morning and thought “I have to paint” and off I went!

Guess what … Mr. Dad and Mrs. Bonus Mum are leaving tonight … 3 weeks they have been with us. Three amazing, fantastic, hilarious, wonderful, happy and fun weeks … but bottom line – they are leaving.

And I must purge!

I must move on and I must clear my head and heart.

Because that is how it is – I need to put those three weeks into boxes and on shelves in my head – making the memories count and making sure they will be right there when I need them.

Anyone of my Danish-Women-Living-around-the-World-Friends know the pain you go through every time you have to take family or friends to the airport.

It hurts.

It hurts a lot.

And I’m sure you could ask any of them – rituals have been put into place to deal with that pain.

I’m sure there are those who lights candles and have wine – or those who take their dog for a looong lonely walk … those who go home and monster-clean their houses, or those who bake a cake …

So many rituals – but the pain is the same.

Because we do not know when we will see the family or friends again.

There is always the slight fear that it might be the last time you see them – and you hold them a little tighter in the last hug at the airport.

I paint … I paint, I think, I purge and I move on …

Because I have to – we all have to. It has without a doubt been the most amazing of Holidays. I can honestly hand-on-heart tell you all that no Holiday even comes slightly close to this one. So much family, so many friends – so much joy.

Today it ends with my Mr. Dad and Mrs. Bonus Mum leaving as the last of all the family, and we are back to being a family of 5 with a dog.

Thank God it is the best family and the best dog.

Purging now – off to the paint store!
