I really DID make him do that …

” All Dolled Up” … that is the name of the Ottawa Doll Group – full of very talented doll makers – they always send out an electronic monthly news letter.

I was asked if I’d like to be the profile for April – and if I could kindly write it by March 15th? …  I jumped on the chance and said “yes – thank you and please”.

Well, have you ever done that?

Written a profile about yourself?

I find it hard – I find it hard when I have to write three sentences about myself on Facebook – let alone a whole piece to be read by all these amazing artists.

So I procrastinated – again!

But Sunday morning, I woke up and thought – today is the day (let me just point out – well within the time-limit!)

So I sat down – pen in hand (read: computer in lap) and within a fairly short amount of time I had written a pretty long piece.

And I got an email back saying it was a really nice piece – fun, cheerful and happy.

Which in turn made me happy!

Which then made me think  ”maybe I should share some of it with my readers” – like this funny little tidbit!

“For some strange reason – I still haven’t found a way to relay this story without a bit of embarrassment sneaking in – one weekend way before we were parents I said to my husband “let’s make some salt dough – just in case we have children one day. We must know how to do salt dough” … now, granted I have a very kind and supportive husband but it only took about an hour before he threw in the towel. “

Seriously I made Mr. Hubby do that – we had a West Highland White terrier at the time and he tried to make her on a magnet for our fridge … bless … let’s just say – it never made it to the fridge.

Another little tidbit …

“ …  when I had my twins – and they turned three years old, we were living in the UK.  Cake decoration using Fondant is big over there. I was intrigued and loved the idea of colorful fun cakes.

So I made their third birthday cake and I’m not going to lie -  it was a disaster.”

I’m telling you … it was a boat – the one there in the right hand upper corner.

I mean – first of – look at the title “50 EASY Party Cakes” – so how hard could it be?

It was a disaster – it really really was!

and I’m happy to say that there is only on photo in existence – and it is only showing half the cake, sort of hidden behind the presents on the birthday table …

But I persevered and made some fantastic cakes – like this one – I mean this one is not bad … right?

What else did I put in my profile?

Oh yes – there was this bit about how I have been doing the lessons on Jolie and this particular sentence …

“I finished her yesterday – but the blog readers don’t know that and won’t for a few weeks – but I thought you should have a look-see”

This means that there are people out there who has seen her before you …

- sorry about that :)

I Keep Thinking …

… that I should show you something crafty I’ve done.

Or at least tell you about something crafty I’m doing – because BMDesign was started because I designed those gorgeous little witches – and then the Elves and the Angels … and you might now think I’ve stopped … which I have – and I haven’t!

Because in the beginning of January I was all about the Chicks … Easter Chicks that is.

And I went out and bought styrofoam eggs, and yet again I ETSY’ed and bought fancy feathers and I have the total idea of how those chicks have long funny legs – and a fairly good idea about how their faces will look once I get the time to sit with them and model some Polymer Clay.

Let me show you how the first egg kind of turned out though … disaster …

Basically that styrofoam did NOT like being poked and prodded and as you can see I have a lot to learn about this technique – however to my defence … I have never done this kind of Easter Egging before and although it looks bad – I have still gotten a lot of impressed “oohs” and “aahs”.

I need to work on the size though because it is tricky with such a small egg to get all those pieces of fabric into the styrofoam – anyways … I gave up and almost ordered 200 eggs from Denmark in a different material than the styrofoam.

But then I remembered that there is a French craft store and the French are much better than the Canadians (not really!) and so I managed to find other kind in there and tried a different technique and this is what I came up with instead.

So I walked around looking at this “guy” for a while … and it’s not that I don’t like him – I do!

And I honestly think he has potential – but … as I was sitting here one evening looking through a lovely (- if a little (read very!) different kind of art than mine) magazine, Prims, an idea took hold of me.

I’m telling you – it absolutely exploded in my head.

Kind of like the first time I saw the witches.

I knew I just had to create.

And so this is why I’m telling you – because I am almost done purging … only need them curtains and that island which I’m sure will happen in the next month or so.

I want to share with you what my idea is – however … for now I’m going to keep you in the dark.

Not to tease, not to annoy and not to play coy – it is simply that I need to spend some time with it myself.

I need to play with it and get it to how I want it.

It’s a slightly bigger project than the little witches – in size and in work and I want to get it right before I show you.

I might still play with the Easter Chick – but I cannot promise you that they will be born this year – simply because I want to try to really get this new idea right. I want to spend serious time on it – make sure I’ve got it totally right and then I want to share with you and the world.

Because I think it is that good – I love it and feel it is so me … that is a good feeling and I can’t wait to get started.

I will of course share other crafts and ideas as I do them – because rarely do I have a week without something fun being created – this week I have a little project for a neighbor who is doing a baby shower for a friend. I have been commissioned to do the cupcake topper – and I’ll be happy to show on Thursday how they turned out – it is back to the owl theme and I am excited to play with my feathered friends again!

So – still crafty, still creating and still wanting to share … I promise!
