A Valentine Pinterest

It’s that time again …

It is Pinterest Friday – or if you are a hopeless romantic it is Valentines (real soon!).

So I thought todays post should be about Valentines

Except I really do not care for this Holiday – at all!

Mr. Hubby knows this – and won’t be getting me neither roses nor chocolate – ’cause he kind of knows I find it tacky. I’d much rather have chocolates any other day of the year – and tulips over roses … every time!

Anyhow – I decided I should check out IF it was possible to find anything on Pinterest under “Valentine” that I actually could say that I liked.

I found this

… and that was really it – I thought this would be cute for a class … fortunately I don’t think either of mine want to do Valentines this year – but if they do, maybe I’ll try to push this one on them!

From then on – I mean I did find things I liked on the Valentines search but every time it was more that it was Red & White that made me like it.

Being Danish, I love me some Red & White … our flag is like the most beautiful flag in the world!

Living in Canada … the Canadian flag is not far behind – and I love that I, on any given day will see a red/white flag waving in the wind – if I sort of squint and pretend real hard I can for a split second think I’m actually in Denmark …

Oh no – there I go again digressing … happens all the time these days …

So let’s get to it – let me show you some lovely Red & White things I found today while looking around!

See I wouldn’t need to only have this out for Valentines – I could easily look at this every day … year round – I have a serious love affair with mobiles!

I could totally see me doing something with this and giving it to my little peeps. Again – I would want them to know I love them year round and not just on Valentines … I’m all about telling them all the time!

… and just because I used to make a LOT of cakes … I thought I’d share this one with you because I think it is simple but very pretty!

Oh, and since we’re talking about cakes and all that – here are the cake pops I made for my 40th a little while back

and from the candy buffet …

…. mmmmm ….

I’m ALL about red boots – I love love love red shoes or boots … just absolutely love them.

Thing about red shoes/boots though – you HAVE to be in a mood to chat with people because it never fails. I put my red boots on and every one I bump into will comment on them – you cannot be in a bad mood with red footwear – I dare you to try it!

But I could certainly do with a new pair – and these would be just honky dory for this cold Canadian winter

but even better than me wearing red shoes or boots

there is N O T H I N G in this world that makes me smile more than a baby or a toddler with red shoes … absolutely nothing … it screams LOVE at me

with these I wish you a Happy Weekend – and if you’re all about the Valentines too – have a great Tuesday next week!

I Simply Must …

So … what is this news that I have for you?

What is it that will make me swear, shed tears and (hopefully!)  by the end of it fill me with joy and laughter?

Well, I have made a decision – I am going to embrace this newfound love of Art Dolls.

And I thought I should throw myself into it – just like that … no more reading, no more researching, no more looking.

I must simply DO!

I must make a Doll!

Start to Finish!

Beginning to End!

Tears to Joy!

…  I’m not at all sure how it will go?

- What I am sure of though is that I will scream, swear, cry and hate myself at times

 - but  I also know that I will laugh, giggle, tilt my head in amazement, cry with joy and feel immense pride.

I am going to make my first ever Doll!

And I’m taking you with me on this journey … I am going to take pictures and blog my adventure into the land of Art Dolls

I have been looking and thinking for a week now about which doll to pick – and it is a little silly because I am sure I could pick just any of them and it would be the fun and great learning experience – but of course I want to pick one that I like the look of – and one that I think I can manage without too much swearing!

And I have picked “Jolie”.

Jolie comes to life in this book

She is the lady in the front … I much prefer “Danielle” who is sitting to the right – what with her polka-dotted tights and all, but she is slightly more advanced and I think I shouldn’t throw myself in at the deep end – so I’m going to start with Jolie and then who knows – maybe I feel up for trying out making Danielle after.

The clothing will be different – you can play around with colors, the hair and the clothes – but the basic doll pattern seems a bit easier for Jolie.

This makes me less intimidated!

As I said, I have been reading many books and Patti Medaris Culea has made some seriously helpful and interesting books on how to start your Doll adventure.

I will be using her latest book a lot – “Creative Cloth Doll Collection” but even better is that she has recently released a DVD with more than 5 hours of “How To” and that is in the mail as I write …

Hopefully that won’t take too long!

I think I will need it

… a lot!

There is nothing like actually watching other people do – not just reading out of a book!

So there …

This is what I wanted to let you in on.

I am making a Doll.

My first blog about her will be on Monday.

Living in Canada is not always easy when you want to find new tools and materials – America is a lot better that way.

If I order something online it can get stuck at the border and often takes longer than a week.

I need a few things to get started – most have already been ordered – the others I hope to be able to find here in Ottawa.

One thing is for sure – I will be starting one way or another this coming Monday.

Because I simply cannot wait any longer!

… At all!
